Warmth for the Heart and Body 🌞 My First Trip to Thailand – Part 1

Thank you for visiting the LA CHOU CHOU blog!

We’re already in the middle of September, and the crisp feeling of autumn is in the air. 😌
How did you all spend your summer?

For me, I traveled to Thailand for the very first time! It was even better than I had imagined, so let me share a little bit of my trip with you‼

Departure 🛫

I took a direct AirAsia flight from Narita to Don Mueang Airport. The flight time was about 7 hours.

At the boarding gate, the cabin attendant greeted us with a cheerful “Sawasdee ka 🙏,” and I instantly felt the excitement of being in Thailand!

Welcome to Thailand!

Just when I thought, “Finally arrived!”, I stepped outside into a heavy downpour like someone had dumped a bucket of water. (´;ω;`)

Thailand’s rainy season lasts from May to October, so sudden showers are quite common during this time. 💧 On the bright side, airfare and hotels are cheaper, which makes it budget-friendly. 👍

On the way to the hotel by taxi, I even saw a rainbow 🌈 — a great start to the trip!

Oh, and I also spotted “Labubu,” the hot character right now, inside the taxi. In Bangkok, you’ll see Labubu everywhere—it’s impossible to go a day without spotting it! (lol)

On the first day, I was too tired to go out after arriving at the hotel, so I just had some food from a convenience store. ^^; Bangkok has an unbelievable number of 7-Eleven stores, which gives Japanese people a comforting sense of home. (lol)

Day 2 🌞

The weather was great—and hot! But since I went during Japan’s hot season too, it didn’t feel too bad. In fact, I thought, “Isn’t Japan actually hotter right now?!” 🤭

From the hotel, I walked to the temple I wanted to visit. 🏃

The streets were lively, lined with food stalls even in the morning. 🌟

The temple I’d been eager to see was…

Wat Pho ✨

The reclining Buddha was even bigger than I imagined!
The soles of the feet are decorated with 108 intricate mother-of-pearl inlays. ✨The temple’s atmosphere was quite different from Japan’s, and experiencing that contrast firsthand was fascinating. 😊

Cats in Thailand 🐈

Since Thailand doesn’t have winter, I wondered if it’s like heaven for cats?!
But then again, with so much rain, I’m not so sure…

Afterward, I took the train to visit a café I found on Instagram:

☕Wallflowers Cafe

Located next to a flower shop, the retro-style interior was stylish no matter where you looked. 😍
Perfect for photo lovers—definitely Instagram-worthy! 📸

Although it’s called a café, they also serve alcohol and meals, so it’s more like a café-bar. 🍸 The cakes topped with flowers were just too cute, and both the cake and drinks were perfectly balanced—not overly sweet and very delicious (˘︶˘).。.:*♡

The staff was kind too, making it a place I’d love to visit again. 🌷

Shopping in Bangkok 🛍️

After that, I headed to central Bangkok to explore the huge shopping mall Central World, and across the street, the giant supermarket Big C. Central World felt more upscale, while Big C was more for everyday shopping—both very convenient. 🎶

BBig C had a Costco-like vibe, and I stocked up on snacks and food souvenirs there. 👍

I’ll wrap it up here for now.
Over the remaining two days, I visited Ayutthaya, rode an elephant, and did even more shopping back in Bangkok… 🌞
It was such a fulfilling trip!

I’ll be sharing the rest in another post soon. (^▽^)/
