Customer Visit from Yokohama City

This time, we received a request for ring resizing of the popular Boucheron “Clou de Paris” ring (Pt950) from a customer in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture.

The customer kindly traveled all the way from Yokohama to our workshop in Takasaki for a consultation. Once the repair was completed, the ring was delivered back to them via courier service.

Customer’s Consultation Details

The customer explained:

“There is a slightly smaller motif (‘stud’) that was created during a previous resizing done by Boucheron. If possible, I’d like to correct that area as well while increasing the ring size.”

The ring had been resized by Boucheron in the past. However, when the customer recently visited Boucheron again to request another size increase, they were informed that resizing services were no longer available.

The requested size change was from size 12.5 to size 17.5, an increase of 5 sizes (Japanese size).

The Clou de Paris ring features an extremely delicate design, with finely detailed studs arranged at equal intervals. Because of this, it is difficult to make precise size adjustments while keeping all studs perfectly uniform.
Conversely, achieving an exact target size often requires making subtle adjustments to the size of individual studs.

This ring already had one slightly smaller stud from the previous resizing. After carefully reviewing the overall balance, we determined that by adding two new studs, we could expand the ring precisely to the desired size.

After consulting with the customer, we decided not to alter the existing smaller stud, but instead to add two new studs, allowing us to increase the ring size to 17.5.

The Finished Result

The ring was resized to the requested Japanese size 17.5 (an increase of 5 sizes)

The repaired area is on the side where the studs were added, yet the finish is so seamless that it is impossible to tell where the work was done.

Additionally, all inner engravings—including initials, dates, and the brand engraving—were preserved.
Please note: depending on the processing method, some engravings may inevitably be lost if the entire inner surface is engraved.

As a result:

　・ The previously noted smaller stud remains as it was
　・ However, it has not worsened, and the overall shape has been preserved

At the same time, we achieved:
