Good news from LA CHOU CHOU Hirao.
Under the 2025–2026 term of Governor Ogino of Lions Clubs International District 333-D, a campus club has been established in the district for the first time.
Club Name: Takasaki Keizai University YCE Campus Club
Date of Formation: February 27, 2026
Date of Approval: March 6, 2026
Number of Members: 21
LA CHOU CHOU will serve as the secretariat for the Takasaki Keizai University YCE Campus Club.
We will be sharing updates and information on our blog going forward.
This is a first-time initiative, and although the students are still unfamiliar with many things, they are approaching it with a positive attitude.
Today, we took the president, secretary, and YCE chairperson of the Takasaki Keizai University YCE Campus Club to attend a cherry blossom viewing meeting hosted by our sponsor club, the Maebashi Central Lions Club.
The meeting was held at the Maebashi Royal Hotel on April 9, 2026, and opened with the gong by President Takayama.
The students, attending a Lions meeting for the first time, were surprised by the opening gong.
They were also surprised by the singing of the “Lions Hymn,” though they commented that the lyrics were quite meaningful.

After the president’s address, secretary and committee reports were delivered, bringing the formal meeting to a close.
The second part, the cherry blossom gathering, then began (personally, this is my favorite part).
When the 17th President Motohashi led the “We Serve” call, the students were again surprised.
As we explained the unique rules and customs of the Lions Club each time, I couldn’t help but feel a bit concerned seeing the students’ puzzled expressions.
Although it was not originally scheduled, the campus club was introduced, followed by a speech from President Fuen.
Next was a speech by Secretary Matsumoto.

Treasurer Moe was unable to attend due to other commitments, so instead, Claire, the YCE Chair of the campus club who is scheduled to host incoming YCE students this summer, gave a greeting.

While enjoying red wine, I had a pleasant time speaking with President Fuen about the unique terminology of the Lions Club and future operations.
Incidentally, Fuen is an international student from Vietnam.
From the early stages of forming this new club, I had a feeling that Fuen might become the founding president, and I am truly delighted that this has come to pass.

I believe that with the students’ youth, flexibility, and ideas, District 333-D of the Lions Club will continue to grow and achieve even greater success.

Time flew by quickly, and we concluded with the song “Until We Meet Again.”
Although the three students experienced many surprises, it seems they had a very enjoyable time, which was reassuring.
We brought three students from Takasaki City University of Economics to observe their first meeting.
Although they knew nothing about the Lions Club at first, it seems they were able to share a meaningful and enjoyable experience.
Back when Governor Ozeki was in office, I served as a Zone Chair, and since then I had been considering the creation of a student club.
After starting contact with students from Takasaki City University of Economics, we held monthly meetings and built communication with them.
However, due to certain circumstances, I left the Lions Club at that time.
Later, through various connections, I was able to join the Maebashi Central Lions Club.
I am grateful to have been invited, especially since many close colleagues such as Fujikawa L, Chigira L, and Ota L were there.
I am also thankful for becoming acquainted with Murakami L and for these new connections.
Without letting up, I will continue to devote my full efforts until the Takasaki Keizai University YCE Campus Club is firmly on track.
Long live District 333-D, Maebashi Central Lions Club, and Takasaki Keizai University YCE Campus Club!
