Today, we’d like to share a case study of a ring cutting and restoration.

This time, the customer’s ring that could no longer be removed was a Tiffany Pt950 Half Eternity Ring 💍 Since half eternity rings have diamonds set around half of the band, we cut the part without stones.

For plain rings, we usually cut at one point and gently open it to remove from the finger. However, with diamond-set rings, opening the band may cause stones to fall out 😢. That’s why we often need to make two cuts for rings with stones.

If your ring is stuck, you can visit a fire station where they will cut it for free. But please note—fire station cutting may leave scratches unrelated to the cut or result in a jagged finish. Unless it’s an emergency, we recommend having your ring cut at a jewelry shop if you wish to keep wearing it!

We always try to avoid cutting over engravings (such as dates or initials), but depending on the design, sometimes it’s unavoidable…

That said, we can re-engrave dates and initials if needed ◎ In fact, many customers request re-engraving because they rely on the inscription (like their wedding date) as a reminder 🙂

For this repair, there was no size adjustment and no re-engraving.
