Emergency Visit from Aichi: Cutting 2 Stainless Steel Rings
Cutting a Ring Even the Fire Department Couldn’t Handle
Today, we had an emergency visit from a customer in Aichi Prefecture for cutting a stainless steel ring.
The inquiry came right after we opened:
📞 “We’re already on our way!”
Remarkably, the customer was already traveling from Aichi to our store in Takasaki 🏃 They left their home around 6 a.m.
Since it was an emergency, we quickly prepared for the cutting and welcomed the customer.
Fortunately, we had no other reservations at that time and our staff was available, so we could assist immediately.
Please note that if we have other appointments or staff are unavailable, immediate service may not be possible. For cutting rings made of special materials like stainless steel, tungsten, or titanium, we kindly ask that you make a reservation in advance.

Even the Fire Department Couldn’t Cut It
The rings that got stuck were two stainless steel rings on the middle fingers of both hands.
🧑🚒“Cutting stainless steel rings is difficult.”
In fact, the fire department refused to cut these stainless steel rings…
Since the customer’s fingers were already swollen, they urgently came to our store after finding us online.
There are online guides suggesting using thread to remove a ring, but we’ve seen many cases where swollen fingers become even more swollen during this process.
If you can’t remove a ring by yourself, we recommend promptly visiting a fire department or a jewelry shop like ours for cutting.
For rings made of gold, platinum, or silver, the fire department can usually cut them easily using their ring cutters.
However, hard materials like stainless steel, tungsten, and titanium are often refused even by fire departments. Only a few jewelry shops are equipped to cut such rings.
Because customers travel from all over the country for stainless steel ring cutting, it’s clear that places able to handle these hard materials are very rare.
Cutting Begins!
Once the payment was completed, we started cutting immediately.
First, a metal plate was inserted between the finger and the ring.
The cutting is performed by a skilled craftsman using a rotary tool similar to those used by dentists.
Because friction causes the ring to heat up, the process is done while applying water to keep it cool.
According to our craftsman, using the rotary tool feels like a gentle arm-wrestling pull on the finger.
This is a highly focused task for safety reasons, so we take regular breaks while proceeding.
The blade used is specially developed to cut through very hard materials such as stainless steel, tungsten, and titanium.
After repeated improvements over the years, the cutting time has gradually decreased.
The first ring was cut in about 15 minutes!
Next, we moved on to the stainless steel ring on the other hand.
This one was also a wide and thick ring.
After approximately 15 minutes of careful work,
it was successfully cut as well! (^▽^)
We were relieved that both rings were safely removed.
The customer, who had been unable to remove the rings, looked visibly relieved, and their accompanying family members were also smiling😊
They noticed the rings were stuck early in the morning, quickly searched for a solution, and drove all the way from Aichi to Gunma.
While the journey may have been stressful, we were glad that they could return home safely and with peace of mind.
Please take care when wearing stainless steel rings😌
Thank you very much for visiting us all the way from afar!
